Finding the bathroom
NYPL’s August 2025 guide places the entrance on the east side of Fifth Avenue, just south of East 40th Street. Look for the swinging door beside the revolving door; NYPL describes it as accessible. The guide lists elevators and a single-stall, gender-neutral restroom on each floor. Ask staff which restroom is available today. Published guidance reviewed October 12, 2026; the exact restroom door, step-free route and elevator operation have not been checked on site.
